A lifelong Missourian, Dr. Richard Campos grew up in Rolla where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Missouri S&T, followed by a Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at UMKC. He later completed his dental training at the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health at A.T. Still University in Kirksville and St. Louis.
During his undergraduate years, Dr. Campos formed meaningful relationships with local dentists in Rolla whose dedication to community involvement deeply inspired him. Their example continues to shape his philosophy: dentistry is not just about treating teeth, it’s about serving people and strengthening community ties.
He began his dental career in public health with the National Health Service Corps, where he provided care to both rural and urban communities. After fulfilling his service commitment, he entered private practice but soon felt called to broaden his impact. That calling led him to establish Southtown Family Dental in the Waldo/Brookside area of Kansas City.
Today, Dr. Campos is proud to provide high-quality, compassionate dental care to patients from every walk of life, including individuals and families who may have traditionally faced barriers to care. His mission is to ensure that everyone feels welcome, comfortable, and confident when visiting the dentist.

Dr. Campos is deeply involved in organized dentistry, serving in multiple leadership roles that help shape the future of patient care and the profession.
